Anti Bullying Week & Children In Need

7th November 2024

National Anti-bullying Week is taking place next week (11-15th November). Over the week children will take part in discussions, activities and assemblies about what bullying is and what to do if you are being bullied or know someone who is.

The message we share with the children is that bullying is unkind behaviour and actions which happen repeatedly. Bullying can take many forms including physical, verbal and emotional bullying. We stress to the children that they can talk to adults within school and parents/carers.

The theme for Anti-bullying Week this year is 'Choose Respect'. We will be exploring what this means and how it can be shown.

There are lots of useful resources you may like to look at on the Anti-bullying Alliance website.

On Tuesday 12th we will take part in Odd Socks Day. This is a national campaign aimed at raising the awareness that we are all special and unique. Please can children come to school wearing odd socks with their usual uniform (or PE kit if it is a PE day for them).

Children In Need

Children In Need is next Friday (15th November). Children are invited to wear something yellow or spotty for a donation. Donations will be collected on the Key Stage 2 playground at the beginning of the school day. Children may choose to wear their usual uniform if they do not want to wear something yellow or spotty.

As requested by the children at Western Road, children are invited to bring their teddies into school to join Pudsey in marking the day!

On Children In Need Day we will be talking to the children about how the money raised can help support children in throughout the country.
